What Customers Say About Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System:

The speakers seem to handle the range of any of the sound effects thrown their way. A few extra points:The bass sounds life like. This is still not a complaint considering the price of these speakers. The speakers look sharp, and they seem to be of solid construction. If you're looking for the best of the best sound, you'd be advised to look and pay for high end speakers. For the price of these speakers, five stars is a rating well deserved.

When listening to music, I must admit that I am not as impressed with the sound quality. Many times have I looked out of my window looking for a truck in my driveway only to realize the bass has fooled me again. These Onkyo speakers are well constructed and solid. If you're looking for close to high end sound on a budget, then these are your speakers. Oh, did I mention that these speakers can't be beat for their price. The sound quality is excellent when watching movies.

I do continue to be impressed with their quality of sound as a home theater system.

The additional two side speakers, which my audio system can handle, makes the sound of movies awesome. My prior system did not have a powered subwoofer and had a total of six speakers.

Outside of what I've personally owned, I can say that I have lots of family members and friends that have a lot more money than me to spend on home theater, and I can honestly say I can't think of any speakers that I feel are noticeably better sounding.I would say that if you don't have a bottomless wallet, you definitely can't go wrong with this set, if you DO have a bottomless wallet and think you can do better, I don't have any hard evidence saying that's impossible, but I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed if you stayed low end with this set.As if the sound quality isn't enough, it even comes with color matched speaker wire, and how cool is that. Obviously the improvement from that set can't even be described in words. I'm not going to make any claims about what these speakers sound like compared to really high end systems, because the truth is I've never owned a really high end system. What I can say is that for what they cost, they sound pretty amazing.I bought them to replace some Aiwa speakers I had for quite a while (like 10 years), that admittedly were nothing special, but they got the job done.

The side and rear have a "keyhole" mount. Great speakers, great price. But even up a bit too high the system sounds great. My side speakers are up high so it would be nice if they were pointable or if they had a better mount that I could point downwards. Only drawback is they're not great for wall mounting. The front speakers are not designed to be mounted.

I bought better speaker wire as the speaker wire is pretty thin. Flat against the wall doesn't work in my house as the living room is oddly shaped. It took me about 3-4 hours to properly run all the wiring and I am dreading taking it all out when I move but, it's definitely worth it. Blu-rays maybe. So I paired these speakers with the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver and it's pretty much the sweet bomb diggity.

These are the speakers you want, they rock. Long story short. I did have quite a time mounting the surround speakers as they are pretty hefty and they are designed to hang flat against the wall. The mounts on the surround sound speakers look like something you would hang a picture or painting with. I honestly cannot tell a difference. If you have a perfectly square room or something similar don't worry. Anyways I originally ran the speakers with the supplied wires and now I think I have like 12 or 14 gauge. (You can't see them though so it's cool).

I got a PS3 and a Hitachi 52" Plasma, and DirecTv HD, and these speakers just complete the whole package. I bought some speaker mounts from best buy and I had to rig some makeshift brackets as I was worried the speakers wouldn't stay on the mounts. Do whatever you have to to get these: rob, steal, kill, sell your 1st born, it'll be worth it. (Think dental floss). If I had to do it again I would have saved the 60 some dollars I spent on speaker wire and used it towards something else.
